SUPER BRANDS LONDON: The Exclusive London Exhibition for Global Design Brands. The interiors trade fair exclusively for established global design brands, is back for its second year this September. Last year it firmly established itself as the destination to visit for a selection of the worlds most progressive furniture, lighting and interiors brands outside of Milan Saloni, who until the arrival of Super Brands London, had long been absent from trade shows held in the UK.
In order to build on the instantaneous success of last year, 2012 sees Super Brands London take on a new home: the ground floor of the Old Truman Brewery. On arrival visitors will notice a new unmissable street presence with 70m of 3.5m high glazed street frontage. The sleek new entrance will be shared with its sister show Tent London, which will occupy the first floor. Although very much two separate exhibitions across two floors, they will share one registration area and a talks arena, enabling visitors to see two first-class shows under one roof.

Launching with their inaugural exhibition ‘Whiter than White‘ are the London-based Materials Council, exhibition curators and materials consultants to the architecture and creative industries. The installation will explore of the pursuit of ‘whiteness’ in the built environment, investigating what makes a material white and the concessions that must be made by designers in the face of practical, economic and environmental constraints. The exhibition will demonstrate that achieving an iconic ‘whiteness’ is not as simple as it first appears. Collaborating with the global architecture and design resource Architonic, Materials Council was founded by two former materials researchers at Foster + Partners architects, Ian Hunter and Brad Turner.
Building on the hugely successful introduction of talks and seminars of 2011, the Super Talks programme will again be a highlight with international design cognoscenti flying into London. High profile design industry speakers last year included Jerry Helling (Bernhardt Design), Patrizia Moroso, Alejandro Zaera-Polo, Ben van Berkel (UNStudio) and Liz Wetzel (GM Motors). Super Talks 2012 boasts an equally strong line up, so it will be imperative to book a place online in advance of the date. Further details of Super Talks, which are free of charge to attend, will be confirmed in early Summer.
Super Brands London will again be designed by Creative Director Anna Termite, who will take advantage of the huge flexible, ex-industrial spaces which make up the Old Truman Brewery. Two halls including a bar/café and talks space will be connected through a single show design identity which will extend to the stands. Having grown beautifully into its own identity last year, this year Super Brands London will undoubtedly triumph and impress both exhibitors and visitors.
Super Brands London 2012 will take place 20-23 September at the Old Truman Brewery, Hanbury Street (off Brick Lane), London E1 6QL, UK.
