The Beano and Friends join Surface View

The Beano & Friends is the new collection from the masters of innovative print, Surface View. This series of iconic imagery celebrates the illustrations of Dundee based publishing company DC Thomson. From Britain’s most famous Wild West character Desperate Dan of the Dandy, to the girls’ comic of its time Judy Magazine that effortlessly merged picture-story format moralistic stories with pin-up covers. Bethan Gray has in collaboration with Thomas Turner, a furniture developer and former furniture buyer at Habitat, has a new furniture and home wares brand called G&T.  G&T focuses on the design and manufacture of contemporary yet timeless families of elegant products using intriguing and seductive combinations of natural materials, adding exciting and elegant detail. Backgammon porcelain collection by Mini Moderns

Exclusively created in collaboration with Magpie. Join Mini Moderns for a candlelit evening playing one of the iconic games of the seventies.





When we came to working with Nicky Sloan, founder of British home ware brand Magpie to create the porcelain collection – we were able to build on the success of our previous collections with her, by pushing the print into diverse and abstract mix and match patterns. The design duo say “Working with Magpie is a perfect creative match as neither of us  find reproducing the same pattern across various applications very inspiring or creative – so we are really thrilled with the pattern ‘mash-up’ that we are able to create together”.

Backgammon collection by Mini Moderns

Join Mini Moderns for a candlelit evening playing one of the iconic games of the seventies with Backgammon collection.





What did people do on those long 1970s power cut evenings with only a battery operated tape cassette player for company? Well, they played games of course. And what could be more sophisticated than a game of Backgammon? The pastime was elevated to craze status during the seventies – the decade that acts as a backdrop for the Buddha of Suburbia collection. Mini Moderns founders Keith and Mark say that from an early age they were both obsessed with the glamorous connotations of Backgammon, as well as its graphic geometry. The design duo explain: “We thought the interplay between chevrons and discs made for a dynamic pattern – the ideal combination for one of our few purely abstract patterns.” Read More
